What  is a SLP?

A speech-language pathologist holds either a masters or a doctoral degree in speech, a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a state license. Our commitment is to identify, evaluate and provide treatment for individuals with communication disorders. We counsel individuals, their families and caregivers in regard to the communication problem and its management. Through contact with the individual's referring physicians, as well as other specialists, we coordinate a program that best suits the individual's needs. Facilitating the development and maintenance of human communication is the goal of speech-language pathologists.

WHAT SETS US APART?

Quality over quantity. Your child will be cared for by an experienced Masters level clinician with their CCC in SLP, in contrast to a SLPA (Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant or a CFY. This yields faster and better results. We pride ourselves in having professional clinicians who are excellent at their jobs. At Speech Center you can rest assured that your child is being seen by a professional with years of experience and with the resources of the other experienced professionals around them.

ASHA Certified

According to American Speech and Hearing Association: "The ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is a nationally recognized professional credential in the fields of Audiology (CCC-A) and Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)." This certification assures that the specialists who hold it are highly prepared, trained and competent in their field.

At Speech Center all our therapists are ASHA certified and have their CCC. To learn more about the importance of having a speech language therapist who is fully certified please click on this link.
